English II AP-Prep:

Do Now:

1. Complete PowerLine for Chapter 6 on Classroom.
• POWER LINE -This is a sentence or couple of sentences that contain figurative language (simile, metaphor, onomatopoeia, hyperbole, alliteration, personification, etc. but not a symbol, not dramatic irony, not foreshadowing, not imagery) 

Agenda:

1. With a partner, you will share your Sticky Notes from Chapter 5.  For homework, you will complete your QQVS  of Chapter 5: Night (Sticky notes and QQVS can overlap some)
• EACH Chapter requirements: a min. 4 sticky notes identifying any elements described on your handout and 1 POWER LINE -This is a sentence or couple of sentences that contain figurative language (simile, metaphor, onomatopoeia, hyperbole, alliteration, personification, etc. but not a symbol, not dramatic irony, not foreshadowing, not imagery)  TOTAL: 5 sticky notes per chapter
2. When your group discussion is complete, pick up the Irony handout from me. 
3. With your partner, work on the Irony handout (remember to add situational to the handout)

4. After we check the irony handout, watch the video of Shylock's monologue.  Begin answering the questions with your partner.  We will review together.
5. MAP For Night
6. 42 Maps that Explain WWII

HW:

1. Finish the handout on irony & Shylock.
2. Update/Check your SIN TOC
3. Complete your QQVS for Chapter 6.
