Week 2 (January 13 - January 19)

 

 Welcome to English II. 

English II focuses on World Literature, rhetorical elements, critical literary theories, and preparing our students for college English beginning Junior year.  Below, I will outline a basic suggested schedule for students to follow each week. Due dates will change as needed. Links should be available and active.  If a link is broken, please let me know. 

• Parents, please fill out this Contact Update form asap. 
• Parents, to sign up to be an observer on Canvas (this means you can check in on your student's work). You can watch this tutorial video here. 

Make sure you are signed up for Remind to receive text message updates and reminders from me.

Cohort B Suggested Schedule:

Wednesday 1/13: 

• Sign in to Canvas. 
• Complete Remote Attendance.
• Review Module 2. 
• Complete your annotation of your paper copy of the literature sent home with you last Thursday.
• Complete The Metamorphosis on Actively Learn
• IRP Novel selection form complete
• Warm Ups for week #2 complete. 
• Vocabulary.com #2 work. 
• EdPuzzle Videos (8 total videos due January 27) assigned for Night background information. Check email for link. 

Thursday 1/14 (In Class): 

• Have a book to read.
• Get IRP novel
• Library 3rd period
• 4th pd split: Work in groups to complete the Literary Theory Workbook

Friday 1/15 (In Class): 

• Have a book to read.
• Warm Up: VOICE & Text Fail
• Present Literary Theories
• Summary of Theory
• Summary of Story
• Explain how the story shows the theory (Apply)

Monday 1/18 (Holiday): 

• No school
• Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday

Tuesday 1/19 (Remote): 

• Complete Remote Attendance.
• Read Theory Week #2 due & Submitted. 
• Quill #2 completed.
• Actively Learn assignment is due Wednesday 1/20.

Cohort A Suggested Schedule:
