English II

Agenda:

  1. Put phone away. Your choices are to hang it in the charging pocket holder or in your bag. Phones should not be out or visible during class.
  2. For homework, you should have watched the Syllabus Intro Video
    • If you have any questions, please email me.
  3. Turn in completed contact/contract form to the metal basket.
  4. Turn in interest survey to the black basket.
  5. Pick up the Close Reading and Annotating handout from the front table.
  6. Log on to your Chromebook. Go to IXL.  Log in using Clever (NCEdCloud). There is also an app available to download and use.
    • We will do IXL on Tuesdays after Sentence Combining. (This is a change from Read Theory. You must complete the diagnostic by January 24.)
  7. In your Notebook, in the Reading Section, create a chart for tracking your reading and setting goals. 
  8. We will begin reading on Monday.  You should have your first IRP novels assigned tomorrow.  You can choose to read your IRP novel or any novel of your choosing.  Due dates for the IRP elements are posted in Google Classroom. 
  9. Close Reading and Annotating Skills Workbook Lesson

Homework:

  1. Complete the Product Review page in your Close Reading Packet for class tomorrow
  2. Body Biography for your Trial Novel will be presented Tuesday, January 14
  3. Stems Quiz on List #31 Tuesday, January 28
  4. Make sure you are signed up for:  (LINKS ARE POSTED IN CLASSWORK IN GOOGLE CLASSROOM because the links are unique to each class)

    • Quizlet
    • Remind
    • CommonLit
    • IXL  (Use your Clever/NCEdCloud log in to access) Diagnostic due Jan. 24
    • Quill (Begin working on the 3 diagnostics)- each due date is posted in Quill.

Agenda

  1. As you enter the room, look for the color on the back of your sticker that corresponds with the appropriate station.
  2. You will be moving around, so please place all bags out of the way.
  3. You will need: pen/pencil, notebook or folder for handouts, Chromebook, & your phone for 1 station only. Your phone will not be out any other time except for station #2.
  4. Do not touch or open folders until I tell you to do so.
  5. Before you leave each station, make sure your table is clean and organized for the next rotation.
  6. You will have 14 minutes to complete each station and 1 minute for rotations.
  7. Anything not completed in class is for homework.
  8. Today, you signed up for: Remind, Quill, Quizlet, CommonLit, Vocabulary.com, & Google Classroom.

  • RememberUpdate your agenda daily.  I have met with several of you to work on this skill. You should be checking your Google Calendar and each teachers' board in class for other assignments.  When you write your work down, you do not have to rely on memory. Pen and paper can be more reliable than memory. 
  • Email: Keep checking and cleaning your email.  It is an important communication tool at GECHS, College, and in many businesses.
