    • Based on today’s discussion of the images in the text of Little Red Riding Hood it is probable that this story is saying more than we should be afraid of wolves.
    • So, what is this text saying about danger? Try to use one the literary theories you’ve been introduced to formulate your claim so that your thoughts are focused.  Do not mention the literary theory in your paragraphs.  We should be able to pinpoint your style without your direct assertion.

  1. In Little Red Riding Hood the story is full of danger that Little Red Riding Hood has to face. In the beginning you can clearly see there is no father figure present in her life so, she was raised by her mother alone, giving the girl a sense of strength to handle herself, so she thinks. Her mother tells her before she leaves to "stay on the path and walk nicely and quietly" (Grimm 5). Which means, her mother is saying stay on the path and don't let men fool you and stray you from the path.

In the end, When the "wolf" that we believe is a man because it says in the story "then he ate her up- sad cannibal" (Grimm 11), ate the grandmother up, Red Riding Hood showed up at her house and she was leered into the house by the wolf, symbolizing that the wolf as manipulate the girl just like men manipulate women in the real world. But in the very end when she was saved by a man, she immediately clinged onto him for protection even though she didn't have a father figure in her life. Most children when they grew up without a dad they tend to recent mot men or not trust them because their father left them, so for her to cling onto him after saving her was unusual.
