    • Did the slaves escaping on the Underground Railroad end slavery? 
    • Did one woman’s arrest at the White House get women the right to vote? 
    • Do they think these individual acts brought about big changes? Why or why not?

    • At the end of Chapter 8, the head of the block told Elie to not expend his energy and resources on his father and focus on survival. We know Elie’s decision, but what would you have done knowing that your father was going to die anyway? Write a 250-word argument about what you would do and why.
    • You will present your argument to try to convince others that your opinion is the “right” one, so make your argument persuasive!
